After the harvesting season was over, we had the honour to speak with Mr. Wang Junqi, Deputy General Manager of Honghe Bairui Berry Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., and through Mr. Wang’s sharing, he intuitively showed us his insights on the blueberry industry and his acquaintance with Haygrove.

Q: Please briefly introduce the relevant situation of your farm?

We have always relied on science and technology to grow fruits. Under the guidance of the three excellent concepts of "advantageous production areas, superior varieties, and excellent quality", we continue to innovate and make continuous progress.

Therefore, the location of this 9-hectare farm is in the Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan. The natural landscape of the area, being surrounded by mountains and rivers, as well as Haygrove's excellent polytunnels, makes it very favorable for our blueberries to grow healthily in a controlled environment.

Q: How did you get to know Haygrove? Why made you decide to work with Haygrove?

We have been in the fresh fruit industry for many years. When we thought of helping our blueberries increase the yield and quality through the improvement of tunnel technology, we looked for suitable and experienced collaborators from all over the world to fulfill our dreams together. In the process of searching, we found Haygrove.

The craftsman spirit of Haygrove and the spirit of always putting innovation, service and quality in the first place are very motivating for us. It is also the reason why we finally chose to cooperate with Haygrove.

Q: In previous projects, what difficulties did you encounter?

Bairui is determined to become one of the pioneers in the innovation of the horticulture industry model. In the process of exploring new sciences, it will definitely be full of difficulties, but it will develop and grow to overcome the same difficulties and surpass itself. This story is in tandem with our objectives.

Our expectation of ourselves is to realise the closed-loop development of the blueberry industry from multiple angles and wide vision, so we will evaluate innovation from all aspects of the project. In terms of the planting system, we believe that we can choose a professional polytunnel to provide a suitable growth environment for blueberries.

Q: During the project, what observations and thoughts do you have about the professionalism of Haygrove?

We deeply admire Haygrove's pragmatic and detail-oriented spirit.

Our project has a tight schedule with many milestones to achieve. Regardless of the time pressure, we will not compromise on the quality and quantity of the polytunnel construction. It can also be seen that in this case, some of the construction details of our polytunnel are still perfect and can withstand scrutiny.

The choice stems from trust. This example is enough to make us trust Haygrove's growing systems and service attitude.

Q: If there are new projects in the future, will you still choose to cooperate with Haygrove?

Of course, Haygrove has always been our important strategic partner.

Future Outlook

Q: We are all aware of your enthusiasm for the entire berry planting industry. Nowadays, it is also a good time for the domestic berry industry. Could you please briefly introduce how Red River Berry has developed to its current scale?

From a macro point of view, from the perspective of the development of China's blueberries market, China is still at the infancy stage. There are still many people who do not know of and have not seen blueberries before, and hence the potential of China's blueberry market is also huge.

But we can also feel that there are many developmental problems. For example, there are not many areas suitable for blueberry cultivation, and the planting area is also limited; scientific planting techniques are not in place, resulting in yield and fruit quality that cannot meet consumer needs; blueberries require cold storage and intensive processing, and that includes seedling cultivation. Therefore,there are are more or less some hurdles that need to be overcome in China.

From our own point of view, maintaining our original aspirations and constantly being interested in agricultural technologies, we believe that innovation is the first driving force for China's development. Leading the high-quality development of the blueberry industry with technological innovation is an important part of the corporate moat. At the same time, healthy competition in the industry has objectively driven the pace of technological transformation and upgrading of our enterprise.

Q: After listening to your sharing, I believe that this love for the industry will definitely bring about better growth in the future. Can you share your vision for the blueberry industry in the next 5-10 years?

The development of the industry must be based on the joint efforts of everyone in the industry. I believe that with the further improvement of fruit output and quality in the future, the blueberry industry supply chain can cover the entire industry chain from the primary industry to the tertiary industry, including cultivation, large-scale cultivation, leisure picking, deep processing, sight-seeing, packaging and logistics. .

Thanks to the advantages of being able to cultivate large fresh fruit, good taste, good appearance, and storage and transportation resistance, the pursuit of excellent fresh fruit quality will be the direction of China's market development. At the same time, the price leverage factor will drive some old orchards to upgrade themselves.

Bairui has also been keeping up with the times. At present, we have realised our multi-format industry with a group development perspective, involving the closed-loop operation of the entire industrial chain. From the establishment of an agricultural planting company to a trading company to a technical consulting service company, etc., it ultimately contributes to the truth about the Chinese countryside and the modern production of the blueberry industry.
